Bits and bots
Bits and Bots is a 5 year old FRC Robotics Team located in Longview, Washington. The team currently operates at Mark Morris High School, but any student in Cowlitz County can join. Along with building robots for competition, we also have performed other services such as building a bridge for the 2014 Squirrelfest and helping to rebuild the local police's SwatBot.

What is frc
FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) is an international high school robotics competition, where teams have six weeks to build and program a robot to compete in a competition. Over 3000 teams are split into 8 districts, each having events for the teams to play at. Each team plays at two of these events, and those that score enough points move on to the district championship. The top performers at the district championship move on to play at the World Championship, previously held in Saint Louis, Missouri. Starting with the 2016-2017 season, there will be two World Championships to increase participation. FRC is one of 4 competitions held by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). The other three are Jr. FLL (First Lego League), FLL, and FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge). FIRST is build around the principles of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition. These two principles state that although it is a competition, we play fair and help the other teams. As of the 2015-2016 season, there are 3128 teams in 24 countries, with over 75,000 students and 19,000 mentors, and this number keeps on growing. FIRST is also a great way to earn scholarships, with about 200 scholarships and $25,000,000 dollars given out each year to FIRST alumni. And finally, FIRST is a great way to learn real-world skills such as teamwork and deadlines, while having fun and making friends.
